The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team fell to the Quincy Blue Devils Friday night, 45-41. In this Western Big 6 showdown, Galesburg led for the entire game but missed multiple opportunities to build on their lead. A three-pointer from the Blue Devils would kickstart an 11-2 run that gave Quincy a lead they would not relinquish. The Streaks are 5-3 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
No Silver Streak scored in double figures on the night. Jaxon Wyatt led in scoring with 9 points. Cesaire Bile and Keigen Crummer both added 7. REPLAY: GHS Silver Streaks boys basketball vs United Township

Friday night, the Galesburg boys basketball team closed out a tough stretch of home games in the Western Big 6 with about as difficult of a loss as they could imagine. The Silver Streaks lost a 10-point second half lead and falling down the stretch to the United Township Panthers, 46 - 43. Galesburg is now 4 - 2 overall and 1 - 2 in the Western Big 6.
Probably the biggest story of the game that went against Galesburg was ten 4th quarter turnovers and 21 total for the game. In fact when the Streaks had the ball with a chance to tie the score with a 3-pointer at the end of the game, they turned it over on that possession and never got off a shot. Only seven total 4th quarter shots for the Silver Streaks as the Panthers rallied and outscored them by nine points to win it by three.
Galesburg's only player in double-figures was Cesaire Bile with 11 points. Stone Thiel was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. He finished with 9 points and two huge baskets in the 4th quarter. One was a three-pointer off balance from the top of the circle that got Galesburg within one when they were down four points. And then a 2-point basket on an in-bound play that tied the game. But the Streaks did not score again after that.
Up next for the Silver Streaks is Burlington at home Tuesday night. Brad Bennewitz and Jason Wessels will bring you the action starting with the pregame at 7:10pm on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL as well as wgil.com.

REPLAY: GHS Silver Streaks boys basketball @ Alleman

The Galesburg boys basketball team passed its first road-test of the season, opening their Western Big 6 Conference season with a 75 - 55 win on the road at Rock Island Alleman. Galesburg is 4 - 0 on the season and 1 - 0 in conference play.
The Silver Streaks led the entire game, but Alleman as energetic, organized, and as fundamental as an Alleman team we've seen, came out shooting the ball in bunches. They made the Streaks work. It was just a 4-point game early in the 2nd quarter. Then Galesburg had a couple of short runs, and ended up leading by 11-points at halftime, 43 - 32. Alleman was still hanging around down 8-points in the 3rd quarter when Galesburg put together its most meaningful run, scoring 11 straight points to open up a 19-point lead and cruise the rest of the way for the win.
Great stats all over the scoresheet for the Silver Streaks. Cesaire Bile scored a career-high on the varsity level with 27 points. He also finished with 6 rebounds and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Keigen Crummer didn't miss a shot until the 4th quarter. He finished with a double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds. Overall, Galesburg was 26 of 64 from the field, 9 of 21 from beyond the arc, and 14 of 19 from the free-throw line. They pulled down 47 rebounds, had 16 assists, and committed 16 turnovers.
