Powering Galesburg and Knox County’s Future: Blue Grama Solar’s bright start

In this episode of Galesburg's Morning News, we’re joined by Mayor Peter Schwartzman to discuss a groundbreaking milestone for our community: the opening of the Blue Grama Solar farm, which had an official ribbon cutting Thursday, June 12 at the Nexamp and Trajectory Energy Partners facility on South Farnham Street. This 4.7-megawatt project, the first Community-Driven Community Solar initiative under the Illinois Shines program, features over 8,000 solar panels and promises clean energy, local jobs, and savings for Galesburg and Knox County residents.

The Blue Grama Solar project features more than 8,000 solar panels and will generate enough electricity to offset the annual power needs of more than 700 Illinois households. CDCS projects are designed to provide tangible benefits for local communities, including workforce opportunities, regional investment,

and continued participation in the clean energy economy, driven by long-term engagement with Galesburg and Knox County area leaders.
