In a Western Big 6 Conference match-up at Geneseo, the Galesburg High School football team wasn't able to stop the Maple Leafs' run game, nor could they muster the offensive firepower they had last week, and fell to the Leafs, 58 - 23.
For the Silver Streaks, Prosper Aremu rushed for 82 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns, Grady Hickey ran the ball five times for 13 yards, and Corey McGee had four carries for 13 carries, but none in the 2nd half. In the air, Grady Hickey was 14 of 20 for 278 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Phillips had three catches for 37 yards, Prosper Aremu had two receptions for 25 yards, Derrick Curtis had a five yard reception, and Braden Sholl had a seven yard reception. The Streaks were penalized twice for 25 yards.
In a game where a lot went wrong for the Silver Streaks, junior wide receiver Antwon Walker had some big plays and was named the Dave's Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game. He finished the night with six receptions for 211 yards and a touchdown.
The Silver Streaks are now 2 - 4 on the season and still in the hunt for their first conference win. They're next opportunity for that is next Friday night when they host Quincy on Black Out Night at CBI Bank & Trust Stadium. Brad Bennewitz and Jake Miller will bring you all of the action starting with the pregame coverage at 6:30 P.M., Friday, October 2.
