The Galesburg Silver Streaks football team had their 2025 season home opener against Dunlap cut short due to lighting. The game was called with 33.8 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter with Dunlap leading the Silver Streaks 44 - 0, so it already was a running clock game, and that ended up being the final score.

Dunlap dominated the game right from the get-go, scoring on most of their first half possessions. The Eagles led 29 - 0 at halftime with the Silver Streaks barely in positive yardage at 3 yards for the half. Even with the shortened game, Dunlap showed why their hopes are high for the kind of success they could have this season in the always tough Mid-Illini Conference.

Galesburg's Darnell Curtis was named the Dave's Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game for his strong play and leadership on defense.

Galesburg has their first road game of the season next Friday night as they prepare to head to Limestone. And in two weeks the Streaks will be back at home to take on United Township for their Homecoming game.

In the early game, the Galesburg Freshmen fell to Dunlap, 21 - 14.
