It took two overtimes, but the Galesburg boys basketball team prevailed for their sixth win in the last seven games with an 82 - 69 win over Rock Island Alleman Saturday afternoon. It's the third straight win for the Silver Streaks in the Western Big 6 who are now 4 - 4 in the conference and 14 - 9 on the season.

The Streaks had a three point lead with just 2.8-seconds remining in the 4th quarter when Alleman called its final timeout in desperation of a steal and a three-point basket to force the game into overtime. And that's exactly what they accomplished following the timeout. The game was tied again at the end of overtime, and then Galesburg really took over in the second overtime outscoring the Pioneers 18 - 5.

Two sophomores led the scoring for Galesburg. Both Eden Mayala and Cesaire Bile scored 26 points, and Mayala finished with a double-double with 10 rebounds as well. Keigen Crummer finished with 8 points, including clutch free throws during the overtimes, Rahkim McCellen also scored 8 off the bench, and Jaxon Wyatt had 5 points along with 11 rebounds.

Overall, Galesburg shot 31 of 59 from the field, 5 of 21 from three-point range, and 15 of 20 from the free throw line which was huge down the stretch. They grabbed 40 rebounds but committed 21 turnovers while forcing only 15 turnovers by Alleman.

Our Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game was Demetrius Watson, who scored all 9 of his points in the 4th quarter and the two overtimes. Watson also had 4 assists and 4 rebounds, including a couple of big offensive rebounds late in the game where he pulled the ball back out and gave the Streaks the opportunity to run out some more clock and force Alleman to foul.
