Saturday afternoon at the Peoria Manual Shootout, the Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team in their final non-conference game of the regular season took on state ranked Peoria High. The Lions took the lead early and expanded it to 27 points in the 3rd quarter. At that point, the Streaks poured it on and nearly doubled their point total for the game. They out-scored the Lions 25-13 in the final stretch, but couldn't overcome the deficit and Peoria High won, 69-54. Galesburg is now 8-19 on the season.
The Silver Streaks shot 22 of 49 from the field, 8 of 14 from beyond the arc, and 2 of 5 from the free throw line. The team had 23 rebounds, 12 assists, and committed 12 turnovers. Three Galesburg players finished the night in double-digit scoring, including Jaxon Wyatt with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, and both Cesaire Bile and Jackson Crock Sibbing scored 14 points. Leslie Kelley scored 4 points, Eden Mayala with 3, and Demetrius Watson and Tobi Kivunina each had 2 points.
Cesaire Bile was a big reason the Streaks were able to make a run in the 2nd half with his impressive, high-energy play on offense and defense, earning him the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game award. And on his birthday, no less!
