The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team finished off the regular season on the road with a start-to-finish victory over the Rock Island Alleman Pioneers, 56 - 35. The Streaks end the regular season with a 10 - 21 record and 4 - 10, finishing in 6th place, in the Western Big 6 Conference.
The Silver Streaks shot 26 of 72 from the field, 2 of 16 from three-point range, and 2 of 4 from the free-throw line. Galesburg shot the ball 31 more times than Alleman, and out-rebounded the Pioneers 52 to 28. Galesburg was led in scoring by Cesaire Bile with 15 points, who also got his first varsity double-double with 10 rebounds. Rahkim McCellan scored 12 points off the bench, Jaxon Wyatt finished with 8 points, and Ethan Oxley scored 7 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.
For getting into the scoring book in the last minute and a half of the regular season, junior Shawn Taylor was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game! In game number 31, Shawn scored his first two points of the season with a bucket late in the 4th quarter.
The GHS boys basketball team begins their postseason run next Monday (2/24) night with a Regional Quarterfinal game versus Geneseo at John Thiel Gym.
