In the Regional Semifinal game Tuesday night at Peoria Richwoods, the Galesburg High School girls basketball team completed a season sweep of Geneseo by defeating the Maple Leafs for the third time by a final score of 49 - 36. The Streaks advance to the Regional Finals versus the #3 seed Dunlap Eagles at Peoria Richwoods Thursday (2/20) night.
Galesburg finished the night 18 of 55 from the field, 7 of 23 from the three-point line, and 6 of 9 from the charity stripe. The Streaks grabbed 33 rebounds, had 12 assists and committed 13 turnovers. The Streaks were led in scoring by Ella Herchenroder with 17 points, Zaniyah Carter scored 13 points, Grace Herchenroder finished with 8 points, and Lily Furrow had 6 points.
Ella Herchenroder went five for five from the free-throw line down the stretch and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game! Along with scoring 17 points, Ella finished the night with 6 steals, 3 assists, and a couple of rebounds.
