Saturday afternoon, the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team traveled to the Potterdome and knocked off the #1 ranked team in Class 3A with a hard-fought 38 - 34 win over the Morton Potters.

The Streaks were led in scoring by Ella Herchenroder with 13 points, Zaniyah Carter had 10, Jozalyn Kilgore scored 5 points, and Lily Furrow finished with 4 points. Overall, Galesburg shot 12 of 32 from the field, 6 of 16 from three-point range, and 8 of 15 from the free throw line. They grabbed 13 rebounds, had 9 assists, and committed just 9 turnovers. The Potters only shot 3 free shows, making them all, and the the Streaks' defense forced 20 turnovers by Morton.

With some big free throws late in the game, junior Ella Herchenroder was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. In addition to scoring 13 points, she had a rebound, 2 assists, and a steal. Ella was the floor general all game long helping her team navigate the Potter's defense as well.
