REPLAY: GHS Silver Streaks girls basketball vs Metamora | Thanksgiving Tournament

The GHS girls basketball team continued play in their own Thanksgiving Tournament at John Thiel Gym Saturday morning against Metamora. It was a back and forth game to begin with and Galesburg trailed for the first time this season, but only briefly. The Silver Streaks went on a 28 - 7 run the rest of the 1st half and went on to handily win over the Redbirds, 59 - 43.
Jozalyn Kilgore led the way in scoring for Galesburg with 17 points, Lily Furrow finished with 10, Grace Herchenroder scored 8, and both Zaniyah Carter and Ella Herchenroder ended with 7 points. Overall the Streaks were 24 of 54 from the field, 4 of 10 from the three-point line, and 6 of 10 from the free-throw line. They pulled down 21 rebounds, had 10 assists, and committed 12 turnovers. Once again Galesburg was tenacious on defense and caused Metamora to turnover the ball 25 times in the game.
There were several candidates, but ultimately the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game award went to a player that was integral in the 28-7 run that Galesburg had in the first half to take control of the game. Mitch McVey and Jason Wessels awarded that title to Jozalyn Kilgore, who finished with 17 points and 3 rebounds in the game.
The Silver Streaks play again tonight in the Thanksgiving Tournament when they take on the Springfield Senators. Pregame coverage is scheduled to begin around 7:15pm on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL as well as wgil.com.
