The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team led wire to wire as they hosted the Rock Island Rocks at John Thiel Gym on Thursday night for a 56 - 36 victory. The Streaks are now 17-1 on the season and 6-1 in Western Big 6 Conference play.

Galesburg was led in scoring by sophomore Zaniyah Carter with 21 points, Jozalyn Kilgore and Lily Furrow both put in 11 points, Ella Herchenroder had 6 points, and Taylor Herchenroder finished with 5 points. Overall, the Streaks were 21 of 45 from the field, 5 of 13 from beyond the arc, and 50% from the charity line. They grabbed 26 rebounds, had 14 assists, and committed 15 turnovers. The Silver Streaks forced 25 turnovers by the Rocks.

Zaniyah Carter had a well-rounded game tonight. She just seemed to be everywhere on the court and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She finished the game with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. In addition to incredible work on offense, Zaniyah did a tremendous job defensively as well.
