Thursday night at John Thiel Gym, the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team picked up their 20th win of the season when they took down the Sterling Golden Warriors, 53 - 45. It was a big win for the Streaks as they avenge their only conference loss of the season back in December to Sterling. The Streaks are now 20 - 2 on the season and 8 - 1 in the Western Big 6.
The leading scorer for the Silver Streaks was Zaniyah Carter with 17 points, Ella Herchenroder chipped in 11, Lily Furrow and Ellie Johnson both contributed 6, and Khloe May scored 4 points. Galesburg shot the ball well making 18 of 35 from the field, 7 of 13 from three-point range, and 10 of 11 from the free throw line. They pulled down 21 rebounds, had 13 assists, and committed 15 turnovers.
Junior Jozalyn Kilgore was awarded the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She was aggressive from the opening tip, played great defense, and made several assists with really good passing that set-up open 3-pointers. Kilgore finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and was perfect from the free throw line.
