The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team has won the Coles County Holiday Tournament after defeating the defending champion Teutopolis Lady Wooden Shoes, 45-34. The Silver Streaks battled back from a 11-point second quarter deficit to ultimately win by 11 points of their own. The Streaks avenged their loss from last year's loss to T-Town to take the tournament crown. Galesburg finished the tournament a perfect 4-0 and win their 9th consecutive game for an overall 15-1 record.
Lily Furrow made some timely shots down the stretch and scored a team leading 16 points. For her efforts, she was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Jozalyn Kilgore finished the game with double figures at 12 points. Zaniyah Carter had 3 points and was awarded Tournament MVP as well as All-Tournament Team honors.
The Streaks will return after New Year's with a January 3 matchup vs the Pekin Dragons at John Thiel Gym. Mitch McVey and Jason Wessels will have the call starting with the pregame at 1:15pm on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL and wgil.com
