How many times have you seen a commercial or received a message in the last few days touting Cyber Monday deals? You can thank a Galesburg native for all of those.
Using research to identify the trend of people shopping online on the Monday after Thanksgiving, Ellen Tolley Davis was working for the National Retail Federation in 2005 when she coined the phrase “Cyber Monday,” now seen as the online equivalent to Black Friday.
A Galesburg High School graduate, Davis has appeared frequently on broadcast news programs including Fox News, CNBC, CNN and ABC News, but today she joined WGIL's Jay Redfern and Tyler Gumm on Galesburg's Morning News to talk about the retail phenomenon known as Cyber Monday.
