Sean Kane: A Streak for all seasons

This episode of Galesburg In Focus features a guest whose name is instantly recognizable by Galesburg sports fans.

A 1992 Galesburg High School graduate, Sean Kane is an 8-time letter winner for the Silver Streaks, having made his mark in football, basketball and baseball. Like his father — legendary Streaks football coach Kelly Kane — Sean is a member of the Galesburg Athletic Hall of Fame … son as an individual and a member of the state playoff 1991 football team.

His former coach at Galesburg Chris Stiles describesSean Kane as the one player who pulled everything together, and was the key player in the program. Backfield mate Jerry Cato says Sean’s "football IQ was way above the rest of the team."

Sean Kane went on to a successful career at Monmouth College where he earned eight more varsity letters, playing football and being named an All-Midwest Conference second baseman in baseball.

He joins WGIL's Jay Redfern to reminisce about his days with the Silver Streaks, including what made the 1991 football team so special, the impact his father and being around coaches had on him, why it was important to play three sports and much more.
