Sidewalk Social connects chalk, ice cream and community

In this episode of Galesburg’s Morning News, Angelica Mangieri, known as Chef Hellcat, discusses her nonprofit CommunityGro and the upcoming Sidewalk Social event.

The Sidewalk Social, a free community celebration, is set for Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. outside Sprinkle and Spoon at 108 S. Seminary St., featuring a chalk art competition with youth ($5 entry) and adult ($10 entry) categories, live music by Sullivan’s Daughter, and the debut of an allergen-friendly roasted carrot and chicory ice cream with warm spices (cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg), drizzled with a vanilla rhubarb balsamic sauce, with proceeds funding Community Grow’s food justice initiatives.
