The Lindstrom’s legacy in Galesburg

One of Galesburg’s oldest continuous businesses is almost a hundred years old. But maybe even more impressive is the fact Lindstrom’s TV & Appliance has continued to thrive in a world dominated by big box retailers.

Lindstrom’s dates back to 1925 when George Lindstrom took an interest in a new item called “radio.”

Now 99 years old and owned by George’s grandson Dick, Lindstrom’s has evolved through 11 decades of electronics progress — with items like high definition TVs, microwave ovens, and high-tech refrigerators replacing the radios and records as some of most popular merchandise.

In this episode of Galesburg In Focus, Dick Lindstrom joins WGIL's Jay Redfern to talk about the family store, the evolution of the appliance world and the history of doing business in Galesburg.
