Young Talent and Bloodlines: Galesburg Girls Track’s Path to State

The Galesburg High School girls track and field team had an outstanding night at the Rock Falls Class 2A Sectional on Wednesday, qualifying nine entries for the IHSA State Meet and finishing second as a team, just a half point shy of first-place Metamora.

Advancing to state for the Streaks were:

200-meter dash (:26.29): Ava Marty (Galesburg) :25.56

100 high hurdles (:16.62): Lily Furrow (Galesburg) :16.47

300 low hurdles (:48.74): Grace Herchenroder (Galesburg) :47.22; Lily Furrow (Galesburg) :47.71

4x100-meter relay (:50.59): Galesburg (Kalia Cunningham, Ella Herchenroder, Khloe May, Ava Marty) :49.39

4x200-meter relay (1:48.87): Galesburg (Khloe May, Taylor Herchenroder, Ella Herchenroder, Ava Marty) 1:44.57

4x400-meter relay (4:13.85): Galesburg (Ella Herchenroder, Grace Herchenroder, Taylor Herchenroder, Lily Furrow) 4:03.80

Long jump (16-9): Ava Marty (Galesburg) 16-2

Triple jump (34-8): Lily Furrow (Galesburg) 35-2.5
