DESCRIPTION:The Galesburg Community Chorus will begin rehearsals for its 2023 fall concert on Monday\, August 21st from 7 to 9 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg (101 N Prairie St). All are welcome to join and no auditions are necessary. Dues are $10 a semester\, and music fees are $5 a semester. Students are not required to pay dues. If this creates a hardship\, please contact our Business Manager at galesburgchorusmanager@gmail.com. \nThe concert will take place on Saturday\, November 18th at 7:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church\, and will feature Misa a Buenos Aires by Martín Palmeri. Also known as “MisaTango\,” the work combines a choral mass structure with tango dance music and has quickly become a beloved staple of the modern choral repertoire. Charles Gorczynski\, a Minneapolis-based composer and performer\, will be featured on the bandoneon – a traditional tango instrument. Whether you love sacred or secular music\, the concert – directed by Dr. Justin Swearinger – is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Members of the Lions will collect the items while walking in the parade\, and at F&M Bank at Main & Cherry streets. \nIf you are on the sideline watching the parade\, just wave the glasses/hearing aids in the air and a member of the Lions will get them. \nAfter the parade\, you can drive up to the tent at F&M and they will pick them up as you sit in your vehicle.

DESCRIPTION:The Knox County Health Department in conjunction with Hinchliff- Pearson-West (HPW)\, Inc will be holding their annual convenient Drive Thru Flu Vaccination Clinic from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday\, Sept. 9 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West\, 1070 W. Fremont St.\, Galesburg. \n“The process of getting the vaccine is quick and easy”\, explains Tammy Nelson\, Communicable Disease Coordinator. “Staff will help you fill out paperwork\, wait your turn\, and then receive the vaccine from a trained medical professional. It provides our community with another quick\, easy way to get vaccinated without even having to get out of your vehicle.” “The flu vaccine is a proven and safe way to lower the chances you’ll get sick\,” states Nelson. “We encourage all Knox County residents to get vaccinated to protect themselves as well as their neighbors\, friends and loved ones who may be more at risk for complications from the flu. If you have questions about whether you can receive the vaccine\, contact your primary care provider.” \nThe clinic is open to anyone 18 years or older. The cost for the flu vaccine is $35 for adults and $80 for high-dose. Medicaid and Medicare\, cash and checks will be accepted. \nIn addition to receiving a flu shot\, it is important to practice the 3 C’s – \n\nClean–wash your hands\nCover– cover your cough and sneeze\nContain– contain your germs- stay home if you are sick\n\nThe Knox County Health Department will begin offering flu vaccine on an appointment basis starting Monday\, Sept. 11 by calling 309-344-2224. \nIf you have any questions about seasonal flu\, contact the Knox County Health Department at 309-344-2224.
