Abingdon Area Churches to Host Blue Christmas Service

On Thursday, December 22, Abingdon area churches will host a Blue Christmas service at 7pm at Abingdon United Methodist Church, 401 N. Washington St., Abingdon. This service will offer those who are hurting, lost, lonely or just seeking a deeper reflection for the season, a place to come and encounter Christ in the midst of their hurt. In this gathering, individuals will experience a brief message, moving music, poetry and ways to discover healing.
Rev. Nancy Wilson, pastor at Abingdon UMC, shares that “Jesus comes to bring us the light we so desperately need in a season known for its long days of darkness. The good news is that Jesus comes and meets us right where we are, not in palaces decked out in gold and all things shiny, but in a world that is hurting. That is no less true of our local communities that have seen their share of heartache this past year. Jesus meets us where life is real and where hope is needed.”
