CASA’s “Be a Superhero for Kids”

$45CASA of West Central Illinois will host their 4th annual “Be a Superhero for Kids Duathlon/5K & 1-mile Fun Run” fundraiser on May 6, 2017.
The Superhero Run is a fundraiser to benefit CASA of West Central Illinois. The event will include a 5K, a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk and introduce a duathlon. The duathlon will consist of an 8-mile bicycling course followed by the 5K run/walk. The race will be held in Downtown Galesburg and will start and finish near Cherry Street Restaurant and Bar. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m., the duathlon will begin at 8:00a.m., the 5K to begin at 9:00 a.m. and the 1-mile at 9:15 a.m., rain or shine. Participants will receive an event t-shirt. The top male and female finishers will receive custom-made Superhero capes. All fitness levels welcome! This event is designed for the whole family to enjoy and is open to the public.
This year, CASA is teaming up with For the WIN and Stone Alley Books, the Galesburg Public Library and the Civic Art Center to bring a variety of comic and superhero related events to the community. After the Superhero Run, head downtown for Free Comic Book Day at For the Win and Stone Alley, join the Galesburg Public Library for Comicfest and learn how to draw Manga at the Civic Art Center.
Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of West Central Illinois serves minor victims of abuse and neglect by providing individualized advocacy to these children in the child welfare and juvenile court systems. CASA is appointed to all children with open juvenile cases in the Knox County and Warren County court. All of the children served by CASA are from these communities.
