These efforts will help to demonstrate the impact that the United Way has on the community and how the community is connected through the work of the United Way and its members. Ultimately\, this campaign will demonstrate that the United Way is hard at work 24 hours a day…through the agencies\, volunteers\, and partnerships who support the people who live\, work\, and play in the greater Knox County area! \nOccurring this year on November 29\, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

DESCRIPTION:Dawn Brooks is 49 mother of nine and wife to Charles Brooks! She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in January 2016\, and was given 12 months to live without treatment. 11 months later\, She has had 12 rounds of chemotherapy\, over 6 surgeries including the amputation of her right leg above the knee\, multiple hospital stays\, and 2 visits to Mayo Clinic. The financial and emotional cost of this illness is wearing on the Brooks Family\, and Dawn needs your help! This Benefit will be held at the American Legion in Abingdon\, IL. We will have a Soup Cook-off Dinner\, Silent Auction\, and a Live band!!! We are also selling t-shirts!
