SUMMARY:"Tiny Barn Concert" at Walnut Grove Farm\, featuring Gabriel and Carol Trulson with Blue Room Unplugged
DESCRIPTION:Historic Walnut Grove Farm is featuring Gabriel and Carol Trulson with Mike Terry\, Jim Simpson and Morgan Simpson on Saturday\, October 24th at 4:00 pm. As the final Tiny Barn Concert for the season\, Walnut Grove Farm is hosting fine regional musicians. Blue Grass\, country\, blues and pop favs as well as original works will be performed. Tickets must be purchased in advance; go to www.TinyBarnConcerts.com for more information. Walnut Grove Farm is located ½ mile north of Carr Street in Knoxville Illinois. \nGabriel has been playing acoustic music for 10 years. He grew up in a house that was always full of music being played by family and friends. His mother Carol and he have teamed up to play a wide variety of music including folk\, current and classic country and bluegrass which Carol “cut her teeth on”. Gabriel plays a mixture of singer/songwriter and bluegrass using flatpick and fingerstyle techniques. Carol spent her formative years singing bluegrass with her family and later teamed up with her cousins to travel and sing a wide variety of popular music professionally. Carol is a hilarious entertainer as well as a musician. \nMike Terry\, Jim and “Mo” Simpson are a trio called “Blue Room Unplugged”. These guys are seasoned musicians playing a mix of acoustic light rock\, classic country and bluegrass\, and as friends of Carol’s who have fun sharing their music\, guarantee a great afternoon with their pals. \nOnly 40 tickets will be sold for this by-invitation-only concert. The event will be held in the National Register Farmstead’s barn. Social distancing will be observed in the barn as tickets purchased together will be seated together. Masks are required for entry and when moving away from your group’s assigned area. In the tradition of Walnut Grove Farm’s Fall Drive offerings\, Rich Wood will be making and serving his famous open kettle stew with corn bread and apple cider along with bread pudding and coffee for dessert. The tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance online\, or by calling (309) 289-4770. \n“This mini concert is a great opportunity to share the fun of the season with great music and friends in this classic barn with great acoustics. Get your tickets\, now. We look forward to seeing you\,” states Jan King of Walnut Grove Farm.

SUMMARY:Trick-or-Treating in Galesburg
DESCRIPTION:The City of Galesburg will have trick-or-treating during the same day and time that it’s normally held\, although they are encouraging residents to review and follow guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health. \nFor example\, they suggest instead of handing kids candy\, you place treats on a table\, on their front sidewalk or porch\, and maintain six feet of distance.\nThey also suggest that only household members trick or treat together. \nThe guidelines say that trunk or treat events are considered a higher-risk activity and are discouraged\, although they say similar types of events could be held in a large parking lot with social distance being maintained. \nHalloween haunted houses are currently not allowed under Phase 4 guidelines\, but open-air haunted forests or haunted walks are allowed. \nPassing out candy is of course an individual choice\, but if you are participating\, please indicate that by turning a porch or outside light on. \nGalesburg’s trick or treating hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. \nFull IDPH guidelines can be found <a href=”https://www.ci.galesburg.il.us/assets/1/22/20200930_IDPH_HalloweenGuidance_Fina.pdf”>here</a>.

School nurses are welcome to refer children and families to the clinic. \nThe Elks Organization has been working with physically challenged children since 1928 and this is one of the 17 clinic locations throughout Illinois. The clinic is an ideal time to have a child reviewed for bone and joint development. If your child has feet pointing out or in who complains of back\, knee\, leg\, ankle pain or has a back curvature can be seen at this clinic. There is no charge for any diagnostic services at this clinic. The Elks will provide financial assistance to the best of their ability for children needing further treatment or specialty equipment when the family lacks sufficient resources to do so. In the past\, the Elks have purchased therapy services\, corrective shoes\, braces\, wheelchairs and augmentative communication devices to help children overcome a variety of physical challenges.
