United Way of Knox County and its member agencies have joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
A 24-hour social media campaign has been developed to engage the community in raising awareness, funds to support the United Way of Knox County United Way, and provide volunteer opportunities for all interested in making a difference in Knox County!
With a unified voice from Knox County audiences…to include, but not be limited to: board members, UW volunteers, donors, partner agencies, community leaders. These efforts will help to demonstrate the impact that the United Way has on the community and how the community is connected through the work of the United Way and its members. Ultimately, this campaign will demonstrate that the United Way is hard at work 24 hours a day…through the agencies, volunteers, and partnerships who support the people who live, work, and play in the greater Knox County area!
Occurring this year on November 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
