This lecture is presented as part of “Struggle and Progress: Documenting African-American History in Galesburg, Illinois”, a project by the Knox College Seymour Library to document the experience of African-American citizens in Galesburg, Illinois. It is one of 38 “Common Heritage” public history projects supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities now underway throughout the nation.
