DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 13th at 2 pm \nThe 16th annual Galesburg Veterans Day parade will step off from the corner of Seminary St. and Main St.\, heading down to Cherry St. where the parade continues to the Knox County Courthouse. \nThe route is similar to other parades this year\, which have had shortened routes\, due to preliminary construction of the E. Main Street Underpass. Still\, there will be plenty to see. \nOver 50 entrants have already signed up. Many old favorites like the Monmouth Pipe Band\, veterans organizations and car clubs will be back\, as well as some new groups like “The Peoria Honor Flight”. \nOrganizer and veteran\, Mike Allen\, is the Grand Marshall.

SUMMARY:Western Illinois Wind Band Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Western Illinois Wind Band will present their first Concert of Season #6 on November 15 at 7 pm at the Avon Grade School Multi Purpose Room. The Concert Band is made up of 40 outstanding musicians from Central Illinois and directed by Bernie Potter. The ensemble performs a wide variety musical styles and features soloists and guest conductors from the ensemble. \n\nThe November program includes Fanfare and Call To The Post\, the first movement of a suite written to honor Barbaro\, a race horse that won the Kentucky Derby but was injured during the Preakness. Alfred Reed’s 2nd Suite follows which features the music of Spanish dances. Brett Fisher is featured on solo trumpet playing Tico Tico\, and Eric Whitaker’s tone poem entitled October will be a program highlight. Deanna Chatterton Guest Conducts a thought provoking Brian Balmages piece titled A House Divided. Marches and American Folk Songs\, Toccata for Band\, and a Fanfare written by the conductor lead to the final piece which will be 1812 Overture.
