The Founder’s Day Celebration

The Galesburg Colony, Old First Church, and Knox College are celebrating 180 years on Sunday, February 26 at 4 pm at the Central Congregational Church, 60 Public Square, Galesburg.
Eleven local citizens will be recreating speeches from the 1887 50th Anniversary of the Founding of Galesburg. They will be hisorically attired, and this living history program is sure to delight people of all ages as we hear George Davis talking about running the underground railroad out of Galesburg. We will hear Mayor Sanderson’s words about forming the Galesburg government. And Mary Allen West, one of our city’s most famous women, will talk about education in Galesburg.
FUN and FREE for all citizens. Free-will offerings appreciated.
Presented by the Galesburg Public Library Foundation, Galesburg Historical Society, and 60 Public Square to help us celebrate 180 years Strong in Galesburg!
