Western Illinois Wind Band Winter Concert

The Western Illinois Wind Band directed by Bernie Potter will perform their Winter Concert on March 15, 2016 at 7 pm at the Avon Grade School Multipurpose Room. A varied program of orchestral transcriptions, Broadway Show tunes, Fanfares, Descriptive works, and contemporary compositions will be presented. Guest conductors for the evening will be Bethany Freese, directing the Vince Gassi composition entitled “Chase The Shouting Wind,” and Deanna Chatterton directing “A House Divided,” by Brian Balmages. A first performance of “Fanfare” written by the conductor will be on the program which also features 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky and The Sound Music Selection for Concert Band.

The Western Illinois Wind Band is in its Fifth Season of presenting concerts of a wide variety pieces of band music for audiences in Central Illinois while providing an opportunity for Band Musicians who enjoy playing their instruments to have a place to perform for appreciative audiences. The WIWB has also been able to provide equipment, music, repair services, and student scholarship opportunities through these programs. Admission to the program is a free will donation and the public is invited.

Thanks to A-Town School District and the Administrative team that make these concerts possible, as well the music staff and custodial staff who have been supportive in these endeavors. WIWB appreciates your help in making this cultural event possible for the people in this area.
