ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A northern Illinois grand jury has indicted a prison inmate on murder charges in connection with the 2008 slaying of a girlfriend.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato said Thursday the grand jury indicted 49-year-old James E. Williams on three counts of first degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicidal death in connection with the death of Chaundra Davis of Rockford.
Davis’ body was found Nov. 22, 2008, in the Rock River. The 38-year-old mother of three had been reported missing two weeks earlier. Bruscato says she was strangled.
Williams is incarcerated at Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill after being convicted in Winnebago County of criminal sexual assault. Bruscato says he’s due to appear Friday before a judge.
