DeSutter enters 74th race as third Republican Candidate

Woodhull farmer Mike DeSutter has officially announced his run for an Illinois House seat in the 74th District.

DeSutter gave remarks today outside the Knox County Courthouse, telling constituents of his background and vision for Illinois’ future.

The West Central FS Board President and former AlWood and Costa Catholic School board member is the third candidate to enter for outgoing State Rep Don Moffitt’s longtime seat, alongside Rio farmer Wayne Saline and Alpha Veteran Dan Swanson.

DeSutter told onlookers that if elected, he plans to serve as a”voice of conservative thinking.” He tells WGIL, that starts with the state budget.

“We need to get a budget passed, but we have to live within our means,” says DeSutter. “We cannot keep spending, however, I know both sides are standing in the corner. Any negotiating that I’ve done in the past–there has got to be a little give and take on both sides.”

Building private sector jobs, reforming school funding, and advocating for agriculture are all priorities, DeSutter says. He will now seek petitions, and meet with citizens across the district as the race heats up.
