CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — A temporary synthetic ice skating rink has opened in downtown Carbondale.The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports that the rink is made of hard synthetic ice. It’s located in a city-owned parking lot. The rink costs $3 to use and skates are available for rent. Proceeds will go toward the Carbondale Park District’s effort to build an outdoor aquatic center called Super Splash Park.
The rink, which the city is calling “Town Square East Skating Rink,” will be available through January.
