Glasnovich, William S.

Mr. William S. (Bill) Glasnovich, passed away at 9:28AM Saturday June 11, 2016 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois surrounded by his family.

Bill was born November 6, 1941 the son of Jako and Elizabeth Drago Glasnovich. His parents preceded him in death along with two brothers, Joseph and Michael Glasnovich, and two sisters, Cecelia Glasnovich and Mary McMahon.

He married Rose E. Chaney on July 30, 1960. He later married Linda Ross June 14, 1998. She preceded him in death. Together they had four children, Daniel Glasnovich of Sacramento, California, Tori (and Tom) Kennedy of Centennial, Colorado, Shelly (and Gary) Nelson and Jason (and Margaret) Ross, all of Galesburg, Illinois.

He had ten grandchildren: Jackie, Tommy and Lizzie Kennedy; Brad, Melissa, Jason and Chloe Nelson, Austin, Kaylee and Kalob Ross. He also had four great grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers, Nick (and Pat) Glasnovich, Sun City, Florida, Phillip (and Pat) Glasnovich of Abingdon, Illinois, John (and JeanAnn) Glasnovich of Rio, Illinois, Steve (and Sara) Glasnovich and David (and Paula) Glasnovich of Galesburg; four sisters, Susie Howard, Cecelia (and Tedie) Maxwell, Theresa (and Bill) Bivens of Galesburg and Anna (and David) Skrzelowski of Cincinnati Ohio; two sister-in-laws, Shirley and Linda Glasnovich; and hundreds of nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill graduated from Corpus Christi High school in 1959 and after high school he worked for many years in the family business, “Jakes”, the Glasnovich Tavern, Inc. as a bartender. He later had his own carpentry business for several years before going to work for District 205 where he worked over 25 years before retiring. He loved building and woodworking and loved to help and teach others. He built his own home and helped many family members and friends build or improve theirs. He was a mentor, a teacher and a supporter to so many people and made a true difference in every life he touched. He was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him and will be truly missed.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00AM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Monsignor Ernest Pizzamigilo officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel. The Rosary will be prayed at 8:00PM. Following cremation, burial will be 10:30AM Friday, June 17, 2016 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg.

Memorials may be made to Costa Catholic Academy, Alcoholic Anonymous or charity of the donor’s choice.
