A large storage facility burned this afternoon just off of Route 41 in Galesburg.

Galesburg Fire Department Captain Matt Cain told WGIL at the scene there were no known injuries, though the status of the building and the cause of the fire remained unclear.

Firefighters arrived around noon to battle the blaze at 2445 Lacon St.

White smoke could be seen pouring out of the building and trailing off across the roadway, as fire crews extinguished hot spots.

Peeled siding with smoke damage to the exterior of the facility was visible. However, all four walls remained standing.

The facility is believed to have housed office materials and shop related items. Galesburg Police say it was used mainly for storage by a trucking company.

GPD, GFD and the Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service all responded.
