Your weekend is highlighted with a trip to Walnut Grove Farm to set off the holiday spirit.Christmas at Walnut Grove Farm, now in it’s 25th year, changes a little every year but also draws visitors because of it’s timeless rural charm.

The big red barn isn’t heated but still over 20 artisans and vendors with unique, hand-made items will be on tap for visitors from 10 to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Items range from hand-woven rugs, jams and jellies to fresh ever-green wreaths and centerpieces.

The barn is still in good shape for it’s age but it’s not always cheap to keep it that way.

Owner and operator Jan King says since last Christmas the barn has had some work done.

“As far as activities on the barn this summer we put a new roof on and we’re doing fundraising for that which is why we have t-shirts and hoodies and of course anytime you buy a wreath it all goes to the till that has to pay the bill,” King says.

These are the last three days that the farm will be open to the public this year.

Walnut Grove Farm is a National Historic Register farmstead.
