Fred J. Nesbit, age 78, of Knoxville, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, February 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois.Fred was born on July 5, 1939 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Walter Darwin and Lois Irene Wilson Nesbit. He attended Valley High School and graduated in 1957. He also attended one year of college at Western Illinois University.
Surviving are three sisters: Helen Essex of Knoxville, Illinois, Lois Ann Heckart of London Mills, Illinois, and Darla J. Ray of Maquon, Illinois; one sister-in-law: Norma Nesbit and one brother-in-law: Gilbert Lewis. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and two nieces.
He was a business accountant all of this life, working for banks in the Abingdon, Peoria, and Chicago areas. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. The Rev. Rollie Gauman will officiate.
