
Mr. Richard E. Atwater, 69, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 3:37 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.He was born December 16, 1948 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Helen (Bundren) Atwater.
Surviving are two sons, Conrad Beehimer of Bushnell, Illinois and Richard Atwater of Galesburg; three daughters, Ann (and David) Fisher of Galesburg, Ryan Atwater of Florida, and Renee Atwater of Florida; three sisters, Irene Childers of Galesburg and her twin sister, Eileen Archibald of Altona, Illinois, and Susan Wheeler of Oquawka, Illinois; four grandchildren, C-Jay and twin, Kyle, Jacob, and Amanda; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard’s twin, Randall Atwater, Carl Serven, and Stanley Brown; and a grandson, Mason.
Richard worked for Maytag Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for over 30 years and retired in 1999. He was a former member of the Church of Christ in Galesburg. He enjoyed fishing and he loved his family and his dogs.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
