CHICAGO (AP) – The body of a 67-year-old Chicago woman has been found inside a shuttered health care facility days after she was reported missing from a nearby nursing home.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Ernestine Booker’s body was discovered on Tuesday morning at the former Sykes Center – located on the city’s South Side about 2 miles from the nursing home where she lived.
Last week, she was reported missing from the nursing home and the police department issued a missing persons alert that said she suffered from dementia.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and is awaiting the results of toxicology tests and other studies to determine a cause of death, but the police department says that foul play is not suspected.
