Five turnovers is the key statistic as the Galesburg football team gets its first win of the season at Centralia 16-0. The Streaks forced four fumbles and had an interception in securing the victory. The touchdowns were a 1-yard run by Conner Aten as well as a 10-yard scramble by Dillon McBride after one of those turnovers and then with the two point conversions leading to the 16-0 final score. Defense really won the day on both sides as Centralia’s defense battled but those five turnovers were part of the reason that we selected Max Carr as our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game. Max had the interception and secured one of those fumble recoveries, forced it, actually stripped it right out of the running back’s hands. So a 1-1 record is what the Silver Streaks will enter Western Big 6 Conference play next Friday night where they’ll be back home with the Geneseo Maple Leafs coming to town. The Maple Leafs are one of the two undefeated teams remaining as we head into conference play next week.
