Knoxville man’s attempted murder trial pushed back to March

A Knoxville man is due back in Knox County Circuit Court in early March for a pre-trial conference in his attempted first-degree murder trial.

21-year-old Mattew Hale is one of three Knoxville men facing related charges in the stabbing attack Nathan J. Goehl on June 3 of 2018.

Hale and the other two Knoxville men, 21-year-old Bradley P. Detmers and 19-year-old Hayden T. Clark, are charged with two Class X felonies of Solicitation/Murder For Hire and Attempted First Degree Murder, a Class One felony of Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and a Class Three charge of Aggravated Battery

A fourth individual, 21-year-old Lauren D. Valerius of Davenport, Iowa, pleaded guilty on January 9 to the lesser Conspiracy charge. A sentencing date of March 12 was scheduled. As part of the plea, the other three charges are expected to be dropped against her.

Detmers and Clark are due back in court on February 3 for pre-trial conferences.
