Betty Marie Meachum Shaw, 85, of Avon, IL passed away Monday, November 9, 2020, at The Elms, Macomb, IL.  She was born Monday, July 22, 1935, in Avon, IL the daughter of Dell and Louise (Vickers) Meachum.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Shaw of St. Augustine, Linda (Wayne) Kilburn of Greenbush, Roger (Michelle) Shaw of St. Augustine, Cindy Yocum of Bushnell, Roy (Carol) Shaw Jr. “Corky” of Roseville and Sue Ann Claudon of Chenoa; grandchildren, Jason Kilburn, Tricia Zehr, Jacob Kilburn, Jessica Shaw, Chrissy Russell, Tanya Blakeman, Joshua Shaw, Jillian Smith, Cassie Yeoman, Chelsie Hoyt, Cody Shaw, and Tiffany Hall 24 great-grandchildren; special friends Barb Watters, Kelsey, Kennedy and Hailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Betty grew up in Greenbush and raised Registered Herefords.  She was married to L. Gerald Claudon, they owned Meadow Ridge Farm Registered Jerseys in Chenoa, IL.  They won the 1968 Jersey Jug Bull Futurity with MR Epic Major.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years and was past president and District Director, she was also a member of the 8/40 for 58 years.  Additionally, she was a lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Association.   Betty later married Roy E. Shaw on January 1, 1973.  She worked in banking, at the Prairie City Nursing Home and assisted in the management of Premium Seed, Berwick, IL.   She was an Illinois State Fair Assistant Dairy Superintendent, a member of the Illinois FFA Alumni, and was presented Honorary Chapter Degree from Avon FFA Chapter.

Graveside service will be Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. in the Greenbush Cemetery Greenbush, IL.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Friends may call on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville from 1:00-6:00 p.m. the family will not be present.  Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Avon FFA Chapter and/or Avon Fat Steer Show Steer Committee.  Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
