Wanted Galesburg man faces slew of charges after being located by GPD.

Thursday, November 19th, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Academy Street in Galesburg in an attempt to locate the suspect of a motor vehicle theft. According to police reports, GPD arrived at the Knox Crest Apartments on Academy Street where they located a green Ford Explorer with 28-year old DeSean Holman of Galesburg in the driver’s seat. Holman was asked to step out of the vehicle – he was under arrest for theft of a motor vehicle. Officers discovered a loaded, black 9mm handgun on the drivers-side floor – Holman was put into handcuffs and placed in a squad car. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a set of car keys to a stolen 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, a small box containing cannabis, and what later tested positive as Methamphetamine. Holman was transported to the Knox County Jail. He faces charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Violation of the FOID Card, Defacement of a Firearm, Possession of Meth less than 5 grams, and a Mercer County Warrant for Possession of Meth.
