Harold Lee Kelley passed away in his home in Elba Township on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

Harold was born April 29, 1937, to Chester Lee and Louise Belle (Clark) Kelley in rural Elba Township. Harold had three children, Pat (Kent) Willard, Bloomington IL, Duane Kelley, Kewanee, IL, and Marcy (Matt) Hennenfent, Dahinda, IL. Harold loved his granddaughter, grandsons, and great-grandsons. Harold was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Louise Geraldine “Gerry” Lebda, and daughter Marcy Hennenfent.

Harold attended school in Williamsfield until graduation in 1955. Later he married Margene McWilliams on May 29, 1971.

Harold had a passion for welding that never left him short of work, many of his projects still exist today. Harold worked for the coal mines in Victoria and Farmington where he maintained the large coal shovels. He then took his skills to Wight Chevrolet Service shop for years. While working around big equipment he grew to love to operate them as well. Harold took pride in maintaining the roads of Elba Township whether it was pushing snow or grading gravel.

In his later years, Harold enjoyed traveling the back roads around the countryside and visiting with friends over breakfast.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 1 PM – 7 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. The family will be present from 5-7 PM. Due to COVID-19 face masks, social distancing and attendance measurements will be required. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
