Abingdon-Avon High School threat investigated, cleared by law enforcement Wednesday

A potential threat directed at students and staff at Abingdon-Avon High School was reported Wednesday, investigated by law enforcement, and determined to be not credible.

The school announced the threat and its resolution in a noon post on its Facebook page, saying school would continue as normal.

Knox County Sheriff Jack Harlan told WGIL the school resource officer at Abingdon-Avon High School investigated the matter and deemed it not credible. Harlan said the threat stemmed from talk among students that escalated beyond what was intended.

“There is no concern for the safety of our students, staff, or school community,” the school said in its statement.
