Just after 7:30 pm on Thursday, February 4th, Galesburg Police responded to a 911 hang-up in the 400 block of Day Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with 23-year old Devyn McBride of Galesburg. A domestic dispute was the reason behind the call to GPD dispatchers between McBride and a female subject. Officers were informed McBride had two active warrants out of Des Moines, Iowa: a no-bond warrant for escape; and a no-bond warrant for a sexual offender registration violation. Once McBride learned he was under arrest, he began resisting, and a struggle ensued – at one point striking an officer causing him to fall backwards dislocating the officer’s shoulder. McBride was finally taken down and secured with the use of multiple tasers. The injured officer was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center. McBride was transported to the Knox County Jail. He’s charged with Felony Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, and the pair of Iowa arrest warrants.
