
Galesburg Police made two arrests of suspects in gun-related crimes overnight into Friday.
15 minutes until midnight officers were conducting a walkthrough of Cedar Creek Place public housing complex on McKnight Street.
Police saw a vehicle pull into the fire lane driven by someone they knew to have a suspended or revoked license,
Walking up to the vehicle, officers observed a pistol in the pocket of the front seat passenger.
Eventually, that pistol was IDed as a Glock 19X with a fully loaded 30 round magazine.
The passenger, 27-year-old Devonte Gooden was arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon.
About 6 hours later in a separate incident, officers responded to shots fired call on the 600 block of Berrien.
The investigation found that 25-year-old Trent L Swank came out with a pistol and fired one shot into the air, and one shot in the direction of a tow truck as it drove away with his repossessed vehicle.
A .22 caliber Jennings pistol was recovered and taken as evidence.
Also, 22-year old Cassie Bork was charged with obstructing justice related to Swank’s arrest.
