Forrest L. “Forrie” Sims, Jr., 78, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, 3:45 AM, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Forrie was born on November 19, 1943, in Galesburg. He was the son of Forrest L. and Dorothy (Lane) Sims, Sr. Forrie is survived by his son, Dalton of Knoxville; siblings, Jerry (Connie) Sims of Topeka, Kansas, and Joyce Lufkin of San Angelo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Carmen; and brother-in-law, Terry Lufkin.
Forrie was a graduate of Galesburg High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Forrie worked as a manager for Hi-Lo Grocery, Galesburg for 50 years. He loved to read, do word search puzzles, drive around town and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most importantly, Forrie was a kind and well-liked person, who was devoted to his son, Dalton.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Graveside services will be at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family.
