Aldermen in Monmouth on Monday approved a campground rate increase for Citizen’s Lake.
City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher said that City Clerk Susan Trevor conducted a survey of area campgrounds and discovered they came in under-priced.
“Which is good but we really aren’t covering our costs, either, out there so they had proposed a modest increase in the nightly, weekly, and monthly fees out there,” Steinbrecher told WGIL on Tuesday. “We’re still going to be very competitive and probably under-market compared to some of the other public and private campgrounds in the region here but they felt that it was an appropriate time to do this and reflect more on the camping out there.”
Fees for RVs jumped from $19 a night to $25. The per-week price went from $114 to $125 and the per-month fee from $330 to $350.
Fees for tents went up to $15 and the dump station fees for campers jumped to $10
