Kathleen Marie Kennedy, 92, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

She was born October 19, 1929, in Oakville, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Ruby (Malcom) Reiman. Kathy was reared and educated in Iowa. After graduating high school, she moved to Burlington for a short period of time and later moved to Galesburg. Kathy worked in the Supervisor of Assessments Office at the Knox County Courthouse for around 10 years and then worked at the Galesburg City Assessor’s Office for around 20 years, retiring in 1994. She married Stanley M. Kennedy on February 29, 1996, in Mission, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2004.

Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her three daughters, Gwen (Gary) Stevens of Galesburg, Cheryl (Jerry “Joe”) Hoffmeister of Altamont, Illinois, and Erin (Jim) Clark of Terre Haute, Indiana; her beloved five grandchildren, Ryan (Arin) Stevens, Brendan (Sarah) Stevens, Jay (Melissa) Hoffmeister, Devin (Scott) Bodenhamer, and Kelsey (Tim Snyder) Fredericksen; and ten great-grandchildren, Natalie, Audrey, Brady, Maxwell, Madeline, Mila, Oliver, Eleanor, Everett, and Charlotte. Along with her parents and her husband, Stan, Kathy was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Kathy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, where she sang in the church choir. She was a volunteer for FISH Food Pantry and was also a past president of Pinetree Lane Association for 10 years. Kathy enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing card games, traveling, and was an avid gardener, a trait she passed down to her daughters. She traveled to Egypt, Greece, the Greek Islands, Hawaii (which she found the most exciting), Europe, and many other places around the world.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Those wishing to process to the cemetery, please meet at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, 1849 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, by 10:30 a.m. A celebration of life/visitation will be held following the graveside service from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Vince Rohn will offer prayers during that time. Memorials may be made to the Jolene Arend Giving Fund (The Whoo Hoo Sisterhood), First United Methodist Church Choir Fund, or the FISH Food Pantry.
