The Golf Cart ordinance that Aldermen in Monmouth considered this week is getting reworked.
The ordinance was up for first reading on Monday night but the City Council voted it down.
City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher says that a motion to amend the ordinance was made to adjust some of the content, exempting low-speed vehicles from any of the inspection and registration requirements.
“The motion to amend also included making the $50 inspection fee a one-time only fee instead of an annual fee,” Steinbrecher said in a Wednesday morning interview. “And then, reduce the registration fee from $100 a year to $50 a year. And, that motion passed.”
Aldermen will consider the updated ordinance at their next meeting on Monday, August 15.
