A well-known and former awarding winning editor at The Galesburg Register-Mail has died.
Norma Cunningham, who served as associate editor at The Register-Mail before retiring in 1994, died Wednesday. She was 94.

Cunningham started working at the paper when she was a high school student. She was a police, county and regional government reporter from 1969-75. After two years at the Peoria Journal Star, she became associate editor at The Register-Mail in 1977.
Cunningham was married to Russell Cunningham, former advertising director at The Register-Mail. He preceded her in death in 2013. She is survived by one son, Rusty Cunningham of Holmen, Wisconsin.
Visitation for Norma Cunningham will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m.
